Question by Linda: Are slow cookers suited for cooking beans and Chinese herbs?
If they aren’t, what pots are suited for cooking beans and Chinese herbs? (for soups)

You could probably use the slow cooker set on high for cooking the beans if you started with dry beans. But first either soak the beans overnight in water or cover in water, bring to a boil, boil 1 minute, cover and turn off and let sit 1 hour before placing in your slow cooker. Drain the beans before using them in the slow cooker and then add the liquid for your recipe.
I always do my beans in a regular pot with a lid. It takes about 2 hours to cook Navy Bean soup after it’s done it’s initial soak in the water for 1 hour. I don’t know how long it would take in a slow cooker. My mother cooks hers longer because she likes the beans to break down more and become creamy.
Hope that helps.
